Hajra Mansoor, hailed as the "Ambassador of East," has forged a distinguished career as a modern romanticist and stands as Pakistan's most esteemed female international artist. Graduating from the Government College of Art and Craft in Lucknow in 1964, she founded the Karachi School of Arts, where she delved into the creative synthesis of painting, exploring various evolutionary phases throughout her lifetime. Her artistic journey traversed through Academic Realism, Classism, Oriental Intuitionism, Oriental Formalism, and Neo-Romanticism. Exhibiting extensively both nationally and internationally, Mansoor showcased her work across prestigious venues from Paris to New York, garnering acclaim and numerous awards, including the esteemed "Chughtai Award" sponsored by the Pakistan National Council of Arts in 1996. Recognized for her invaluable contributions, she was honored with the "Pride of Performance" award by the President of Pakistan in 2009 and bestowed the title of "Safeer-e-Mashriq" of Pakistan. Currently based in Islamabad, Mansoor continues to enrich the art scene through her studio work, gallery ownership, and dedication to nurturing the next generation of artists, perpetuating her legacy as a trailblazer in Pakistani art.
