Mohsen Keiany,

Dr. Mohsen Keiany, an esteemed artist of Iranian and British descent, was born in Shiraz, Iran, in 1970. Beyond his prolific artistic career, Keiany is a seasoned researcher and lecturer in the realm of art. His work serves as a bridge between art and tradition, with a focus on evoking a sense of 'historical sense, placelessness, and timelessness' as wellsprings of creativity. Keiany's accolades include recognition at over seventy national and international exhibitions, testament to his global impact as an artist.

Having earned a PhD from the distinguished Birmingham Institute of Arts and Design, Birmingham City University, Keiany delved into the symbolism of mosques in Baluchistan, culminating in a published book by Oxford University Press in 2015. His academic pursuits reflect a deep-rooted curiosity in exploring multicultural influences and traditions in art and architecture.

In today's socio-political climate, the portrayal of Muslim countries in Western societies is under intense scrutiny. Keiany, along with other artists, endeavors to counterbalance the prevailing negative narratives by highlighting the peaceful facets of Islamic culture, acting as agents of reconciliation. Despite the challenging landscape, Keiany remains committed to critically engaging with his own heritage and its politicization, a stance that distinguishes him within the artistic community.
